KIDS HOPE USA is a national church-based mentoring program that equips a church to build a partnership with its neighborhood public elementary school by providing faithful mentors to children who need a caring adult friend. KIDS HOPE USA gives schools a proven intervention to help at-risk children at no cost to the school.
The Cathedral of Our Lady of Walsingham has been faithfully serving the students at Treasure Forest Elementary in Spring Branch ISD through KIDS HOPE USA since 2006. Fifteen volunteers from our parish give one hour, once a week, each to one child at Treasure Forest; fulfilling not only the heart of the KIDS HOPE program, but also the Gospel call to follow Our Lord Jesus by serving those in need.
One caring adult mentoring and one at-risk child for just one hour every week makes a huge impact, as any one of our current mentors can attest. When a child feel loved and valued, he is better able to learn, grow, and succeed.
Would you join us in helping change the life of a child in our community? Please prayerfully consider becoming a mentor this school year. KIDS HOPE is also seeking prayer partners to support this vital ministry.
The chance for caring adults to provide students with one-on-one attention at school is priceless. Imagine if every elementary school in the country offered students who need a listening ear the chance to be a part of the Kids Hope USA program; what would schools look like? Answer: They would be filled with children who thrive and excel in every aspect of life.
