Deacon Mark Baker currently teaches freshman theology at St. Pope John XXIII Preparatory High School in Houston. He is also director of RCIA at Our Lady of Walsingham.
Raised in California, Mark received some religious upbringing from a Catholic aunt. He had a strong religious conversion in high school and went on to get a B.A. in Bible Studies and then a Masters of Divinity from an Anglican Seiminary. He served in the Protestant ministry for six years. Through a long-standing friendship with Dr. Scott Hahn and thirteen years of study, Mark entered into full communion with the Catholic Church in 2001 at OLW, and he was ordained into the Permanent Diaconate by Daniel Cardinal DiNardo in July, 2014. He and Susan, his lovely wife of 31 years, live in Katy, Texas, and have three grown children and seven grandchildren.
